not so dazzling.

I joined Shoe Dazzle a few months ago.  It's the "shoe society" endorsed by Kim Kardashian (seriously, what's next?!).  Anyway, you pay $40 a month and get a pair of shoes.  You are presented with 5 pairs of shoes "personally selected" for you, aka computer-generated, based on your fashion preference survey.  If you don't like the first 5, you can request a new set.  You can skip any month--or to make life easier, just look at the Facebook fan page where everyone posts pics of their choices, and you can then request any you like via customer service.

I think I've been active since January (maybe?), and I've only ordered 2 pair.  Well, 3 actually but I had to return one.  You can order more than one a month, but it's $40/per (I'm pretty sure you know that, but just to clarify for any of you having a slow day haha).  I love the idea of the options, but I'm not entirely sure it's worth it.  For example, it's spring.  Why are ALL 5 of my choices black?!  I would understand if I had chosen dark colors in the past, but of the 3 I actually ordered, they've all been bright colors (pink, teal, and red, to be exact).  Furthermore, boots?  Suede boots?  Really?  Ok.  And if I skip a month or don't buy a particular pair, why do they show up again in a later month?!  Frustrating.  They lure you in with false advertising.  The stylists may select the shoes, but they don't handpick them for each individual subscriber.  While the pairs I have selected have been cute, I don't think the shoes are high quality.  $40 is a pretty good price for shoes, but some of these are so poorly made.  Seriously, go take a look at some of the user uploaded photos.  There's even another fan page started by disgruntled subscribers who have found some of the same so-called exclusive shoes much cheaper.

I got lucky and got two (semi) good quality pair, aside from a few imperfections.  I didn't take a chance to exchange them because they were highly anticipated and "exclusive" pair that everyone was up waiting until 3 am (on the east coast, 12 PST) on the 1st of the month to order.  I think I'm going to keep my membership--just to see what they offer--but I'm sure you could find better bargains elsewhere.

I did like a promotion they did last week to go along with the opening of SATC2.  Everyone got an extra shoe in their "showroom."  The shoes were inspired by the fab 4 (they had other names, of course).

I was offered the "Charlotte" shoe--which is expected, lol--but I didn't order because some of the pictures made them look cheap.  Definitely cute though.

So, basically--join if you're curious about what they'd offer you (the only reason I'm staying), but don't expect too much.  It also takes the joy out of actual shopping.  After all, in the words of Carrie Bradshaw, shopping is my cardio :)
