ABC and FOX refused to air this commercial for Lane Bryant (a store that sells clothing for fuller figured women) because of it's "sexual" nature. The networks demanded many re-edits, but does it not look the same--if not more tame--than any of the Victoria Secret's ads? Fox only showed it after the company threatened to pull their money out, but they played this VS ad earlier during the same program.
Hmmm, notice any similarities? Seriously. They look like they could be commercials for the same company, apart from the fact that the woman in the first is more voluptuous and they're not saying "naked" every three words.
A rep for the company said, "Yes, these are the same networks that have scantily clad housewives so desperate they seduce every man on the block -- and don't forget Bart Simpson, who has shown us the moon more often than NASA, all in what they call 'family hour.'"
I'm glad the company is putting this out there in the open, showing the double standard. There are regulations for advertising, but the same judgments needs to be passed across the board.
