The Times (London) criticizes the fashion of
Sex & the City as being overblown as the new film is preparing to come out next month. They claim that Samantha is the best dressed of the foursome, while the others look like "drag queens," then went on to list the 25 most fashionable films of all time. The top 10:
- West Side Story ('61)
- Belle de Jour ('67)
- The Big Sleep ('46)
- Atonement ('07)
- Bonnie and Clyde ('67)
- Annie Hall ('77)
- Factory Girl ('06)
- Coco avant Chanel ('09)
- Gone With the Wind ('39)
- The Talented Mr. Ripley ('99)
As much as I adore
West Side Story, I don't know if I agree with that choice. I do, however, love the styling in
Atonement. The green dress Keira wears in the library scene? To die for! And the elaborate costumes of
Gone With the Wind are uhh-mazing. They were revolutionary for the time period. What is it about the green dresses? I love the dress Scarlett makes from curtains.
The rest of the list includes gems like
Pulp Fiction, Funny Face and
The Devil Wears Prada. The Matrix and
Avatar were also included, which I really don't understand... but whatever.
