chuck, what have you done?
Gossip Girl is my guilty pleasure. It's my favorite show on tv right now, though it has yet to top the first season. The fashion and the New York backdrop are what drive the show (Sex & the City, anyone? Perhaps that is what explains my addiction). Its pop-culture-referenced one-liners and the emotions are what get me, especially from the show's golden couple (I don't know if "golden" is the correct adjective since they're often the source of the plotting, lol), Chuck and Blair. They're finally together and happy, and now it seems as if they'll be back to their old game-playing ways--in a negative, non-enjoyable way.
In tonight's episode, Blair wears a Matthew Williamson dress, shown in the promos and in several pics from the set. Earlier this week the designer's store in NY actually changed the window display to reflect the upcoming drama... asking "What did Chuck do?" with a mannequin wearing Blair's dress and two suited guys (presumably representing Chuck and his uncle, Jack, who is ALWAYS a source of drama and conniving).
As creative as this is (I mean, the show is renowned for setting trends. Bow headbands? Blair. The effortless long waves? Serena) and as much as I love it, I'm not looking forward to any threat to my favorite tv couple. At least it generates talk, and for people unfamiliar with GG, maybe it will drive them to watch. I guess the drama is what keeps us watching, right? Until tonight...
xoxo, Cassandra ;)
